From Hand to hand: a program to raise awareness among young people about manual dexterity

A pilot project developed in partnership with citizens, local businesses, and community centers, aimed at building a learning neighborhood focused on hands-on skills and experiential learning.

The program enables youth to discover the skilled trades in their community through practical workshops and business immersions, supporting career exploration, the recognition of practical know-how, and the development of a strong, sustainable community.

D’accord pour Dakar

This project is an educational exchange trip bringing together youth from Ottawa to Senegal during the Youth Olympic Games. (November 1–13, 2026)

Participants will engage in cultural and educational activities, including musical showcases, school-based workshops, and reporting for a youth blog.

They will also have the opportunity to meet young people from around the world, share their cultures, and strengthen their sense of belonging to a global community committed to a more united and inclusive world.

Ottawa Creative City

Apply in 2027 for Ottawa to join UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network, which brings together more than 350 cities worldwide.

This network enables the sharing of best practices and the development of partnerships to promote creativity and cultural industries, while strengthening participation in cultural life and integrating culture into urban development plans.

Ottawa, Toward a Learning City

This project aims to integrate Ottawa into UNESCO’s Global Network of Learning Cities, following the example of Edmonton, the only Canadian city to have received this designation.

It seeks to position Ottawa as a city where lifelong learning becomes a reality, enabling every citizen—at all ages—to learn, contribute, and thrive, thereby strengthening the city’s community, cultural, and economic vitality.

Discoverability on Wikipedia and Wikidata

Discoverability is now a key issue. It is essential to improve access to information about projects led by our communities.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to share knowledge and support knowledge transfer. It aims to increase the visibility of organizations and highlight the important work they carry out on a daily basis.

Led by youth, this educational project fosters civic engagement, strengthens connections with local organizations, and raises awareness about misinformation and how to address it.
